I’m trying to put together a practical program on fighting poverty. Your work was recommended as a resource. I found it frustrating when one of your works started by talking about your job not making enough money.
Poverty is the lack of a job, home, food … three illegitimate children living in a cardboard house during the monsoon rains, and the dam cracking.
Poverty is not worrying about your next Lexus payment!

Hi Robert, thank you for sharing your perspective. I agree that extreme poverty, especially when people lack food, safe shelter, and other basic necessities, is a serious issue that deserves our attention and practical action.
I’m not sure which article you read, but if you came across a personal account of my decision to work overseas because my income at the time wasn’t sufficient, I was sharing my own experience, not suggesting that my circumstances were equivalent to the extreme poverty you described.
People experience financial hardship in different ways, and I believe we can acknowledge those differences while still recognizing the value of addressing the attitudes and circumstances that affect our financial lives.
I appreciate your concern for people living in poverty, and I wish you well in developing your program to help them.
